Frequently Asked Questions

Andi Basics

Andi is an end-to-end digital technology enabled care solution that combines an in-home dispersed alarm unit and remote monitoring dashboard to enable care providers to deliver preventative care.

Andi offers unique operational flexibility and an open architecture that allows connection to virtually any type of peripheral. It uses military-grade technology adapted from the defence sector to ensure reliable communication and supports both analogue-to-digital transition and proactive and preventative care capabilities.

Andi hubs are manufactured at the Sony UK Technology Centre, which is a world-leading manufacturing operation in Pencoed, South Wales. The manufacturing agreement between Sony UK Technology Centre and 2iC-Care ensures Andi can be consistently and reliably delivered to local authorities and care providers at scale.

Andi is built on 2iC's lean services architecture, an open protocol system adapted from defence technology. This lean services approach enables seamless integration of telecare devices, supports diverse systems, and delivers intelligent analytics for personalised care with high-level security.

Andi is designed for local authorities and care providers looking to:

  • Transition from analogue to digital telecare
  • Deliver proactive and preventative care
  • Personalise care packages for service users
  • Implement reliable, resilient care technology
  • Reshape reablement services

Yes, Andi is TSA (Telecare Services Association) compliant and meets all required industry standards. 2iC-Care is a QSF Certified Organisation, demonstrating commitment to delivering exceptional standards in safety, quality, and innovation in Technology Enabled Care.

Connectivity & Technical Features

Andi connects to the internet via three methods:

  • 4G Roaming SIM (mobile connectivity)
  • Wi-Fi (home broadband network)
  • Ethernet (direct router connection) Andi automatically switches between these to find the best connection.

While Andi uses multiple internet connection methods (4G Roaming SIM, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet), it's also designed to continue functioning during complete internet outages. The system can store critical data locally and transmit it once the connection is restored, ensuring no vital information is lost.

Yes, Andi connects to multiple ARC platforms such as UMO, Appello, SkyResponse and Jontek. Crucially, Andi never gives up sending an alarm or alert to the ARC.

The Andi hub contains distributed IoT software that allows connected peripherals to interact directly with each other. It creates an intelligent and responsive care environment without direct intervention.

Device Compatibility & Integration

Andi has an open architecture that allows connecting virtually any type of telecare or telehealth device from different manufacturers using wireless protocols like RF868, WiFi, Bluetooth and Zigbee. If there are any specific peripheral types you would like to discuss connecting to Andi then please reach out to us.

Yes, Andi allows integration with other care management platforms, electronic records systems, and third-party applications used by care providers. If there is anything you would like to discuss integrating with then please reach out to us.

Care Delivery & Monitoring

Andi continuously tracks data from connected devices to detect subtle changes in a service user's behaviour, routine, and health markers. It can then alert care teams to potential issues before they escalate.

When an alarm is triggered, Andi provides responders with comprehensive data from all connected devices as actionable insights, giving a complete view of the situation to ensure an appropriate response.

By providing real-time, comprehensive data and enabling proactive care strategies, Andi helps care providers allocate resources more efficiently. Andi’s customisable alerts allow for more targeted interventions, potentially reducing unnecessary call-outs and hospitalisations such as in the Wirral. Care services can also use existing stock of older care peripherals even those operating on RF868 with Andi, meaning they do not go to waste after the digital transition is complete

Personalisation & Flexibility

Care teams can configure Andi to build fully customised care packages for each service user by selecting the specific devices, sensors, and monitoring rules to monitor individual needs and risks.

Yes, Andi is designed for long-term adaptability. As a service user's needs change, care providers can easily adjust the connected devices, monitoring rules, and alert settings without replacing the entire system, ensuring continuous, relevant care throughout different life stages.

Unlike systems tied to specific manufacturers, Andi's open architecture allows care providers to mix and match devices from different brands. This enables the creation of truly bespoke care packages, combining the best devices for each individual's unique needs and preferences.

Andi's operational flexibility allows care providers to not only customise monitoring parameters but also to delegate alarm or alert responses to a network of caregivers, including friends and family. This feature enables a more community-based approach to care, involving a wider support network for each service use.
